Loukataris Car & Moto Rental Sifnos – Terms & Conditions

Driver Requirements

  • Minimum age: Drivers must be at least 21 years old and hold a valid driving licence.
  • Licence type: A valid European or International licence matching the category of the rented vehicle (car, scooter, or ATV) is required. For scooters, a motorcycle licence valid for at least one year in the renter’s country of residence is required.

Included in the Rental

  • Mileage: Unlimited
  • Second driver: Free of charge
  • Road maps: Provided free of charge
  • Pick-up / drop-off: Free delivery and collection at the port, your hotel, or anywhere on Sifnos

Extras

  • Helmet(s): Provided free of charge with scooter rentals
  • Child seat: Provided free of charge on request

Rental Duration

  • Minimum: 1 day (24 hours)
  • Grace period: 30 minutes after the agreed return time without extra charge. After that, a full day will be charged.

Cancellation Policy

  • Free cancellation up to 48 hours before the rental start time.

Insurance

All vehicles are insured for third-party liability:

  • Injury or damage caused to other drivers or vehicles
  • Legal support and accident care
  • Personal accident coverage for the renter
  • Authorized drivers are covered for third-party liability
  • Cars: Optional collision damage waiver (CDW) can limit your liability for damage to the rented vehicle to a minimum charge of €500, at €10 per day, provided the Highway Code is not violated
  • Scooters: Third-party liability only; CDW is not available

Without CDW (or where CDW does not apply), the renter remains fully liable for damage to the rented vehicle.

Insurance Does NOT Cover:

  • Driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs
  • Driving on unpaved roads (where not appropriate for the vehicle type)
  • Damage to the underside, tyres, or rims of the vehicle
  • Accidents involving unauthorised drivers not listed in the rental contract
  • Accidents that are not reported to Loukataris Car & Moto Rental Sifnos with an official accident report, regardless of fault

In any such case, the renter is responsible for immediate payment of all damages or loss. This includes the full cost of repair or replacement, up to the current market value of the vehicle at the time of the incident or theft.

Accident or Theft

If you have an accident or incident: do not admit fault, call the police, and contact Loukataris Car & Moto Rental Sifnos immediately. Within 24 hours you must complete an accident or theft report and send the required documents. For theft or loss, you must file a written report at the nearest police station within 24 hours.

Fuel Policy

Fuel costs are the renter’s responsibility. The vehicle must be returned with the same fuel level it had upon pick-up.

  • Cash
  • Bank transfer
  • Credit card (Visa, Mastercard)

Taxes

All prices include VAT, as defined by Greek law.

Traffic Violations

All fines and penalties are the sole responsibility of the renter.

Usage Restrictions

  • Prohibited uses: No racing, stunts, or reckless off-road use beyond what is safe and lawful for the vehicle type.
  • Security: The vehicle must be locked whenever unattended.
  • Authorised drivers: Only the renter and those listed in the rental agreement may drive the vehicle.
  • Travel restrictions: The vehicle may not leave the island of Sifnos.
  • Condition: The vehicle must be returned in the same condition it was received.
  • Breakdowns: The renter must notify Loukataris Car & Moto Rental Sifnos immediately in case of mechanical failure.
  • Accidents: Must be reported within 24 hours. Failure to do so makes the renter fully responsible for all resulting damages.

Liability & Termination

  • Loukataris Car & Moto Rental Sifnos is not liable for any direct or indirect damages to the renter or third parties during the rental period.
  • Vehicle photos are indicative; exact models may vary.
  • Loukataris Car & Moto Rental Sifnos reserves the right to terminate the rental agreement without notice or refund in case of reckless driving, endangerment, or misuse of the vehicle.
